Using Prayer for Somatic Release
Prayer is one of the most underrated tools for optimal health, in my opinion.
To consider it only a spiritual practice is to first misunderstand what prayer is, and second to rob yourself of its potent medicinal benefits for your entire being.
Studies have proven prayer’s efficacy in regulating our nervous system and rewiring our neural network, so, why then has its power to provide somatic release/healing not been discussed?
Again, it’s likely due to the narrowness in which prayer is exercised or applied. So, I’m going to share my own experience and if you’ve ever used prayer before, you may suddenly realize that you’ve had this medicine at the ready all this time.
First let’s look at the power of somatic release. Your body is made up of a fascial network that runs the entirety of your physical being. This fascial network (connective tissue) supports every structure in your body. When you experience a traumatic happening emotional or otherwise, this tissue in your body absorbs the “event” and essentially stiffens and walls itself off so as to contain the trauma.
